Qian Zhou, Head of Strings at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, took the world by storm with a brilliant triumph at the Marguerite Long-Jacques Thibaud Competition in Paris, where she broke all precedent in the competition’s 50-year history by winning the First Grand Prize and all the five major prizes. She is joined in this recital by pianist and Director of the Conservatory, Professor Bernard Lanskey, to perform intensely passionate sonatas from three consecutive generations (Franck, Janáček and Poulenc) alongside transcriptions of six of Manuel de Falla’s popular songs.
