American concert pianist and Head of Piano Studies at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, Professor Thomas Hecht performs Beethoven's pivotal Emperor Piano Concerto. An instant success when it was first written, the bold and triumphant concerto remains hugely popular. Opening the concert is music by Luciano Berio, a leader of musical explorations in the late 20th century and one of the greatest overtures - Brahms' Tragic Overture Op. 81. The concert also includes Wagner's most famous and most performed individual works from the epic Die Walküre.

"Thomas Hecht revealed a rich artistic spirit and highly developed technique, a velvety way with sonorities, seamless phrasing and expert pianistic skill." - Washington Post
