Elizabeth Tan cellist, Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra Conservatory Class of 2007
"A Conservatory student's life is so filled with concerts that performing can almost become a routine. On 6 July, however, it was an extraordinary feeling to walk onstage dressed not in concert attire, but a graduation gown."
- Tan Suyin Elizabeth performed the Gigue from Bach's Cello Suite No.3 at the 2007 NUS Commencement ceremony.
Wang Wei, Winner of the 2008 New England Conservatory (NEC) Woodwind and Brass Concerto Competition, Conservatory Class of 2007
"I am glad that I attended my most important four years at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music. It has laid a firm foundation for both techniques and musicianship in my trombone studies."

Emily Koh, Singaporean composer
"One cannot make music alone. At the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory, everyone is an important piece in this musical community - composers need performers and vice versa, and the orchestra can never do without missing double basses, flutes or trombones. Unity is key, and here, friends work, strive and play hard together; and together, can we then make music."
- Singaporean composer, Emily Koh has been awarded a full scholarship to pursue her Master of Music degrees in composition and music theory pedagogy with Kevin Puts at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University.
