Principal Harp
Gulnara Mashurova is a native of Kazahkstan and a graduate of Moscow Conservatory. She earned her bachelor and master's degrees at the Juilliard School. In 1994, she was a finalist in the World International Harp Competition in Wales. She has performed with The Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, Concertgebouw Orchestra, Suspeso Contemporary Ensemble, Absolute Ensemble and Yo-Yo Ma's Silk Road Project. Mashurova can be heard on the most recent CD release by Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Project entitled Beyond the Horizon as well as on the soundtrack to NHK's ten-part series documentary production on the Silk Road, which was filmed in China in 2004. She has appeared as soloist in Debussy's Danses Sacrée et Profane with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra and Flagstaff Symphony, as well as performing Mozart's Concerto for flute and harp with the latter orchestra. Gulnara Mashurova is a regular substitute with the New York Philharmonic both in live performances and on recordings. She has also participated in numerous festivals including the Pacific Music Festival, Norfolk Music Festival and Spoleto Music Festival in Italy and the USA. In 2003 she joined the Singapore Symphony Orchestra as Principal Harpist.
