Madeleine Lee, CFA, 47, has 24 years experience in investment management, during which she worked for Government of Singapore Investment Corporation; Chase Manhattan and Morgan Grenfell (now Deutsche Asset Management). After receiving the Fund of the Year Award in the BT-Micropal Funds Award in 1996, she went on to become Managing Director/Chief Investment Officer of Commerzbank Asset Management Asia.

In 2000, she co-founded bowtieAsia Pte Ltd, a company which specializes in private equity investments and incubation in the infocomm technology and biotech sector using an on-line platform. She was awarded the inaugural Mont Blanc Businesswomen Award 2001. In 1999, she founded Athenaeum Ltd to provide tailor-made investment advice with an Asian focus.

From 2005 to 2007, Madeleine was Deputy Chief Investment Officer at Investment Office of the National University of Singapore (NUS), established to manage the University Endowment Funds. She started the Investment Office from scratch and put together the process, structure and team for a multi asset fund of funds office, to achieve its objective of long term investing to meet the University's return needs in line with its risk profile. In particular, she focused on the Public Equity, Private Equity and Alternative Investments asset classes.

Since 2008, she has been appointed Director at Athenaeum Limited and launched Athenaeum Asian Equities Fund, a vehicle for accredited investors.

Madeleine has served on the Board of Directors of Mapletree Investments, Aetos Security Pte Ltd and ECICS Holdings, all Singapore government-owned Temasek Holdings companies, and was also Board Director of Infocomm Investments (a subsidiary of Infocomm Development Authority (IDA). She was appointed by MAS to the Financial Sector Review Committee on the Liberalisation of the Stockbroking Industry (1997); and the Business Development Review Group for the Merged Exchange (1998).

She also volunteers in the not-for-profit sector, serving on the Development Committee of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra and as a Board Member of the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music at the NUS, and the Advisory Board of WildRice, a theatre company. Previously, she was on the Exco of UNIFEM Singapore (United Nations Development Fund for Women) and International Women's Forum (Singapore) and the Board of the National Volunteers & Philanthropy Centre and The Community Foundation. She is also on the Investment Committee of the Singapore Academy of Law and the Investment Committee of Infocomm Dev Authority.

Madeleine has a BA (honours) in Economics and Accounting and an MBA in Finance from UK. She is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a Fellow of the prestigious Eisenhower Exchange Fellowship during which stint she elected to focus on the not-for-profit sector, looking into issues of Philanthropy and Sustainable Funding; and also researched key US University Endowment funds. She is also the published author of 4 books of poetry "a single headlamp" (2003), and "fiftythree/zerothree" (2004), "y grec" (2005) and "synaesthesia" (2008). She has 2 sons, aged 9 & 15.
