London Symphony Orchestra

Former principal horn of the London Symphony Orchestra (1955-1968), Barry Tuckwell has appeared worldwide as an orchestral player, soloist, chamber musician and conductor. He was also the founder and music director of the Maryland Symphony Orchestra from 1982-1998; former Music Director of Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra in Australia; Professor at the Royal Academy of Music in London (1962-1972); first president of International Horn Society; current member of its Advisory Council. Barry Tuckwell's Honors include Order of the British Empire, Companion of the Order of Australia, Fellow of the Royal College of Music, and Honorary Doctor of Music from the University of Sydney.

Barry Tuckwell was in residence at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music as the first ONG TENG CHEONG Visiting Professor in Music in the 2004/2005 academic year.
