Portrait
1986
Ciment-fondu
84 x 67 x 29 cm
(enlarged to 2.7 metres for Seoul Olympic Sculpture Park, Korea)
This abstract work is disturbing because it resembles an
assembly of missiles, the topmost with two wide slits cut
into its side. "This piece is meant to symbolise the two faces
of war: how war rages while negotiations for peace goes on.
It is not meant to have a political message, but more of a
humanistic one." (February 1989). Used to working with a
variety of glazes, Ng found it natural to incorporate colour in
his design. Portrait is painted red and black.
