Freedom Child

1978
Ciment-fondu
42 x 70 x 84 cm

This is a hanging sculpture, ball-shaped, with a child's face and protruding arms and legs. It belongs to a
series begun in 1977 which was inspired by the mass
migrations from Vietnam.
Suspended like a mobile, this sculpture was meant to
symbolise children fleeing from the horrors of war and
famine. There are smaller examples in ceramics in
this collection.
