Prodigal Son

1980
Ciment-fondu
58 x 83 x 48 cm

This work personifies modern wayward youth. Unlike its biblical counterpart who is welcomed back with
open arms by a fond father after a long absence, Ng's
sculpture is a symbol of the young Singaporean who
leaves home and is entangled in the problems of
present-day, urban life, including drugs, without any
hope of deliverance.
