Sundays at NUS Museum
Basic Chinese Ink Painting Course

This short course aims to cultivate an interest in Chinese ink painting. Students will learn some basic brush painting techniques and use them to create simple subject matter like goldfish, cat, flowers, water-melon, grapes, gourd, rambutan and vegetables. The course will also include some calligraphy exercises.

18 Nov, 25 Nov, 2 Dec, 9 Dec 16 Dec & 23 Dec 2007

Time:        10.00am to 12.00noon
Venue:      Celadon Room, NUS Museum
Fees:         $192.60 (inclusive of GST)
Registration will be confirmed upon receipt of payment. Cheques should be made payable to ‘National University of Singapore’ with the course title indicated on the back. Please mail cheques to NUS Museum by 31 October 2007.

Materials:   $17.00 per set (Includes: Ink, Paint, Brushes, Felt cloth, Palette & Paper) Students are encouraged to bring an apron

Maximum 15 students (8 to 16 years of age)
Course will start only if a minimum of 6 participants sign up

Quek Kiat Sing is a practising contemporary ink artist who has received recognition in local awards such as the United Overseas Bank Painting of the Year Competition and the Dr Tan Tsze Chor Art Award. She represented Singapore at the ASEAN Cultural Week in Vietnam in 2004 and participated in the China ASEAN Youth Artwork Creativity Contest in China in 2006.  Kiat Sing also lectures part-time at the Nanyang Academy
of Fine Arts.
