Accommodations
Housing Options

On-campus:

The University of Oregon has a variety of housing options, including traditional residence halls where all room and board needs are met, private apartments, and living with local families. The terms "residence hall" and "dorm" are often used interchangeably, however there is a difference between the two. An important objective of residence halls at the University of Oregon is to provide not just a place to sleep, but also opportunities for personal and educational growth. Highly trained Residence Life staff and Hall Government officers support this objective by creating engaging activities and programs in each hall or complex.

Off-campus:

The University of Oregon does not supply information regarding housing and apartments off-campus generally. There is one bulletin board with housing information located outside the entrance to Office of International Programs (330 Oregon Hall). In addition, we suggest you examine local newspapers such as The Daily Emerald
(http://www.dailyemerald.com/classifieds/) and The Register Guard classified sections. Students who are planning to live off-campus are advised to arrive one to two weeks before International Student Orientation to secure housing.

Homestay:

The homestay program at the University of Oregon offers you a great opportunity to live with an American family for a few days before ISO begins. It is a great chance to meet and interact with community members and have "instant friends" when you arrive in America. Please visit the homestay information homepage
(http://international.uoregon.edu/index.php/students/homestay-program) and fill out an on-line application today.

Visa & Insurance
Health/Medical Insurance

Healthcare in the United States is very expensive. All students and dependents are required to have health insurance that is similar to the health plan offered by the University of Oregon. If you do not have health insurance, the University offers a plan to International Students http://international.uoregon.edu/index.php/students/insurance.
