Consular/Visa Regulations |
International students who are accepted to a University of Michigan exchange programme must obtain an F-1 visa. Once students are admitted and have received their certificate of eligibility (I-20), they need to contact the nearest U.S. consulate in order to find information on applying for a visa. Students must complete forms, submit documents (sometimes more than once), pay a fee (U.S $100), and schedule an interview with a consulate official. Students should apply immediately for a passport, if they do not already have one. For further information, please visit here. |

Health/Medical Insurance |
All international students enrolling at Michigan, including OIP exchange students, are required to carry adequate health (sickness and accident) insurance. Insurance coverage greatly reduces the costs of professional medical care, which otherwise can be quite expensive. The University offers a comprehensive, fairly inexpensive plan - the International Student/Scholar Health Insurance Plan - for which students must sign up at the International Center upon arrival in Ann Arbor or during International Student Orientation. For further information, please visit here. Please refer to the Other Links Section for the relevant links to the university’s insurance policies. |
