Accommodations
Housing Options

UCL guarantees accommodation to only exchange students who have been accepted to study at UCL for a full academic year, provided that they submit their housing application form by the deadline set by the Student Residences Office.

Students who study at UCL for less than a full academic year are not guaranteed university accommodation, although in practice it is usually possible for UCL to offer them a place in the university halls of residence.

Please note that all inquiries about housing at UCL should be directed to the Student Residences Office. Support for students during the pre-arrival phase and during their stay at UCL is managed by the Student Centre (Registry & Academic Services).  The link below gives further information on Student Centre services http://www.ucl.ac.uk/current-students/student_centre_folder/index

Please refer to the Other Links Section for relevant links to the university’s housing options.

Visa & Insurance
Consular/Visa Regulation

If you intend to travel to the UK to enrol on a course of studies which lasts 6 months (or more), you must obtain a Tier 4 (General) student visa before travelling to the UK.

If you are a Singaporean citizen or a citizen of another country on the UK non-visa nationals list, and if your course of studies is less than 6 months, you can apply for entry to the UK as a student visitor either prior to leaving your home country, or on arrival at UK immigration at the port of entry.  If you are a citizen of a country not on the non-visa nationals list then you still must obtain a Tier 4 (General) student visa before travelling to the UK.

Health/Medical Insurance

Britain has a subsidized health service which provides free health care and treatment for people who are resident in Britain.

Students who are enrolled on a programme which will last for more than six months are also entitled to NHS treatment.

If a doctor prescribes any medicines these are subsidized but there will be a charge made for each prescription - currently 5.75 UK Pounds per item.

Dental treatment is subsidized by NHS but everyone has to pay something towards the cost of their treatment.
