Imperial College was founded in 1907. It embodies and delivers world class scholarship, education and research in science, engineering, medicine and business, with particular regard to their application in industry, commerce and healthcare.  The university fosters interdisciplinary working internally and collaborates widely externally.

Imperial's main campus is located in the South Kensington area of Central London on the boundary between the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and the City of Westminster, with its main entrance on Exhibition Road. It has a number of other campuses in Central London, including in Chelsea, Hammersmith and Paddington. With a total of 525,233 square metres of operational property, it has the largest estate of any higher education institution in the UK. Imperial has around 13,500 full-time students and 3,330 academic and research staff.  It had a total income of £694 million in 2009/10, of which £297 million was from research grants and contracts.

Applicants should approach the relevant department exchange programme co-ordinators for the most up-to-date version of the curriculum/syllabus.

Students are expected to provide proof of English language proficiency as per the requirement of UK Border Agency (http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visas-immigration/studying/).

IMPORTANT: A full academic year of three terms accumulates to 60 ECTS units.  This is the maximum number of credits students can take in one year at ICL.

Visa & Insurance
Consular/Visa Regulation

If you intend to travel to the UK to enrol on a course of studies which lasts 6 months (or more), you must obtain a Tier 4 (General) student visa before travelling to the UK.

If you are a Singaporean citizen or a citizen of another country on the UK non-visa nationals list, and if your course of studies is less than 6 months, you can apply for entry to the UK as a student visitor either prior to leaving your home country, or on arrival at UK immigration at the port of entry.  If you are a citizen of a country not on the non-visa nationals list then you still must obtain a Tier 4 (General) student visa before travelling to the UK.

From AY2011/2012 onwards NUS students must provide either certified copies of their GCE English Language (with Grade B or better) or SIPCAL certificates OR IELTS or TOEFL exam results to prove their English language proficiency as part of their application to ICL.

Health/Medical Insurance

Students who are enrolled on a programme which will last for more than six months are entitled to NHS treatment.
