Curriculum Structure |
||||||||||||||
The university uses the SCOTCAT credit system (Scottish Credit Accumulation and Transfer System) where a full year credit load is 120 credits and a semester is 60 credits. Typically, students will take three classes per semester, but this can vary depending on the subject area and level they want to study. The maximum credits students can take each semester is 60 credits. Most courses have exams at the end of each semester. Exam schedules are made clear to students when lectures start. Thus, one-semester SEP may be possible, although full-year SEP is preferred. |

If you intend to travel to the UK to enrol on a course of studies which lasts 6 months (or more), you must obtain a Tier 4 (General) student visa before travelling to the UK. If you are a Singaporean citizen or a citizen of another country on the UK non-visa nationals list, and if your course of studies is less than 6 months, you can apply for entry to the UK as a student visitor either prior to leaving your home country, or on arrival at UK immigration at the port of entry. If you are a citizen of a country not on the non-visa nationals list then you still must obtain a Tier 4 (General) student visa before travelling to the UK. |

Britain has a subsidized health service which provides free health care and treatment for people who are resident in Britain. Students who are enrolled on a programme which will last for more than six months are also entitled to NHS treatment. If a doctor prescribes any medicines these are subsidized but there will be a charge made for each prescription - currently 5.75 UK Pounds per item. Dental treatment is subsidized by NHS but everyone has to pay something towards the cost of their treatment. |
