Academic Calendar

Semester 1: Late September to Late January
Semester 2: late January to Late June

Curriculum Structure

  • A full year's work is 120 Bristol credit points, and students are expected to take the full load regardless of their graduation requirements. If they are studying in a range of departments, they may not be able to take precisely 120 units, so margins of 100 to 130 are acceptable and are still considered to be a standard year's work for transfer purposes.
  • A semester's work is 60 Bristol credit points, and rules are as for the full year. Margins of 50 to 65 are considered acceptable.

Visa & Insurance
Consular/Visa Regulation

If you intend to travel to the UK to enrol on a course of studies which lasts 6 months (or more), you must obtain a Tier 4 (General) student visa before travelling to the UK.

If you are a Singaporean citizen or a citizen of another country on the UK non-visa nationals list, and if your course of studies is less than 6 months, you can apply for entry to the UK as a student visitor either prior to leaving your home country, or on arrival at UK immigration at the port of entry.  If you are a citizen of a country not on the non-visa nationals list then you still must obtain a Tier 4 (General) student visa before travelling to the UK.

Health/Medical Insurance

Britain has a subsidized health service which provides free health care and treatment for people who are resident in Britain. Students who are enrolled on a programme which will last for more than six months are also entitled to NHS treatment.

Though the cost of any medication is subsidized, the prescriptions are chargeable.

For students who are going for less than 6 months, please get a travel and health insurance for coverage.
