Institution Profile
 

National Tsing Hua University is a research university with a long and proud tradition.  Since the re-establishment in Hsinchu in 1956, the university has been known for her excellent academic programmes as well as her spacious verdant campus.  NTHU initially began in Taiwan with nuclear sciences studies, and gradually expanded to include general sciences and engineering; in the past twenty years, the social sciences and humanities, life sciences, information sciences, and management sciences were added.

Exchange students are required to take a minimum 9 and maximum 25 credits for undergraduate students and 1 to 3 courses for graduate students.

Mostly Chinese, with15% of courses in English.

Visa & Insurance
Consular/Visa Regulations

Students have to apply for a Visitor Visa (for less than 6 months stay), Resident Visa (for more than 6 months) at the Taipei Representative Office in Singapore.

Resident visa holders must apply for Alien Residence Certificate (ARC) within 15 days following the date of entrance or the approval date of the resident visas at the National Immigration Agency. When applying for the ARC, one may simultaneously apply for a re-entry permit. The re-entry permit allows you to leave and return to Taiwan.

Health/Medical Insurance

Exchange students with Alient Resident Certificate (ARC) stay for more than 4 months is compulsory to puschase National Health Insurance with TWD 749 per month.
