|
Chalmers is a university of technology in which research and teaching are conducted on a broad front within technology, natural science and architecture. The university’s inspiration lies in the joy of discovery and the desire to learn. Underlying everything done is a wish to contribute to sustainable development both in Sweden and world-wide.
The University is a pioneer in Europe in the field of start-up companies, and has built up an efficient system of innovation in order to find applications in research into the formation of companies. It has a close and productive collaboration with business and society at large. In this way Chalmers reinforces its own development, at the same time contributes to the growth of society.

Curriculum Structure |
|
Sweden has a system of higher education credits (högskolepoäng); a normal 40-week academic year corresponds to 60 higher education credits. The system is compatible with ECTS credits.
Chalmers does not award ECTS grading.
In most courses Chalmers uses the grading scale Fail, 3, 4 and 5. For others, students can only be awarded fail or pass. If students fail the course, they must either take a re-sit examination, or they must make up the credits in some other way in order to pass.

Exchange students at Chalmers
Like all other students, incoming exchange students at Chalmers are insured during school hours and direct travel between the place of residence and the school. The insurance is valid in Sweden and covers primarily accidents during school hours and travel to and from the school.
Incoming exchange students are also covered by Student IN. This requires the student to study or train within the frame of an exchange agreement, i.e., an agreement must have been drawn up between Chalmers and the foreign seat of learning.
Student IN includes a limited amount of accident cover during leisure time, the right to compensation for emergency medical care or emergency dental care (not EU), home transport cover, liability protection and legal protection.
