Poland

Poland is a fascinating country that serves as the geographical and cultural crossroads of Eastern and Western Europe. Poland is bordered by Germany to the west; the Czech Republic and Slovakia to the south; Ukraine, Belarus and Lithuania to the east; and the Baltic Sea and Kaliningrad Oblast, a Russian exclave, to the north. Its total area is 312,679 km2, making it the 69th largest country in the world and the 9th largest in Europe. Poland has a population of over 38 million people, which makes it the most populous Eastern European Member State of the EU.

Most of its people are Polish; there are minorities of Ukrainians, Germans, and Belarusians. Industries include mining, manufacturing, and public utilities.

Poland has much to offer: alpine mountains, sandy beaches, clean lakes, deep forests, world-class historic monuments, and friendly people. Polish cities like Warsaw and Krakow invite their visitors for an encounter with Polish culture, and its villages and small towns offer opportunities to get away from the bustle of modern life.  All this comes against a backdrop of breathtaking natural landscapes.
