AGH University of Science and Technology (Polish Akademia Górniczo-Hutnicza im. Stanisława Staszica) is the second largest technical university in Poland, located in Kraków. The university was established in 1919, and was formerly known as the University of Mining and Metallurgy. It has 15 faculties and two schools, which will become new faculties in the near future. AGH University of Science and Technology continues the traditions of the Mining Academy established in Kielce by Stanisław Staszic. It serves the science, economy and society through educating students and the development of the scientific and research staff, as well as conducting scientific research. |

Curriculum Structure |
||||||||||||
AGH-UST educates provides full-time, part-time, doctoral and postgraduate courses, offering a wide scope of education adapted to current trends on the labour market. There are 30 branches of studies, including 170 specializations run at 15 standalone faculties, as well as the Inter-Faculty School of Energetics and the Inter-Faculty School of Biomedical Engineering. Starting from the academic year 2007-2008, AGH University of Science and Technology introduced a three-tier system of education, the so-called Bologna System. Students who finish their first degree (6-7 terms) are awarded a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts, Second degree (3-4 terms) - Master of Science or Master of Arts, Third degree - doctoral studies - prepares students for independent research and teaching, and students are awarded doctoral degrees. |

Please check with SEP Administrator in the Dean’s Office for actual dates. Students who are nominated by their faculties will be eligible to be nominated for the exchange. Online application form has to be submitted by 30 June for semester 1 and 30 November for semester 2. |

Housing Options |
||||||||||||
Students can live in Dormitories or rent an apartment in Krakow on their own or with other students. Because of the limited amount of rooms, students need to notify us as soon as possible. |

Consular/Visa Regulation |
||||||||||||
Student is required to apply for visa on his own. AGH-UST may provide with a certificate or a Letter of Acceptance if such document is required. |

Health/Medical Insurance |
||||||||||||
All non-Polish citizens visiting or studying at our University need to be insured against possible consequences of accidents and the cost of medical treatment, or they have to join the Polish National Health Fund immediately upon their arrival It is one of your responsibilities as an international student to ensure that you have valid insurance during your entire stay at AGH-UST AGH-UST can assist you in choosing a suitable insurance policy and/or filling in necessary forms (in case they are provided entirely in Polish), but you will have to cover all insurance costs. Please remember that if you opt for insurance against consequences of accidents and the cost of medical treatment, you will have to pay for any/ all doctor appointments not covered by your insurance policy (such as allergies, flu and/ or other medical conditions). Joining the National Health Fund will allow your doctor appointments to be free of charge, but will not entitle you to any payments in the case of an accident or the need for hospital treatment Please refer to the Other Links Section for the relevant links to the university’s insurance policies. |
