The founding of Seoul National University (SNU) in 1946 marked the opening of the first national university in modern Korean history. The main campus, Kwanak campus, with an area of is situated at the foot of the magnificent Kwanak Mountains. Its 2 other campuses are known as Yongon (the medical campus) and Suwon (the agricultural campus). The entire campus is a magnificent 192,366 km squares wide.
SNU offers its students outstanding cultural and recreational benefits; it also offers them a wide variety of entertainment opportunities in the city of Seoul.

Curriculum Structure |
|
The maximum workload for exchange students is 18 credits per semester (equivalent of 6 modules). Usually a 3 credits class requires 3 hours lecture per week.

Korean and English
Course lists and syllabus are available by mid Jul for Fall semester and mid Jan for Spring semester. You can click on ‘Course Search’ followed by ‘Advanced Search’ tab to look for courses conducted in English with ‘E’ indicated in the remarks column of the class.

Restrictions for Exchange Students |
|
The College of Medicine is restricted to students who are studying medicine at their home university.
The College of Dentistry and College of Veterinary Medicine is not open to undergraduate exchange students.
Applicants who apply for the Korean History must provide a proof of Korean language proficiency.
MBA programs and Law School only accept exchange students from their Faculty-level partners.

Housing Options |
|
The Gwanak campus is the main campus of SNU. Most colleges and schools are located at the Gwanak campus except for the College of Medicine which is located at Yeongeon campus in the northern part of Seoul. Exchange students may apply for the Gwanaksa dormitory, but it is not guaranteed.
Off-campus housing is available around the campus. Please note that SNU does not provide assistance to look for off-campus housing. You may to make your own arrangement for this.

Consular/Visa Regulations |
|
Exchange students must apply for a D2 student visa before arrival. After you received the Certificate of Admission (CoA) and offer letter from your host university, please proceed to the Korean Embassy to apply for the student visa.
|
|
Health/Medical Insurance |
|
All exchange students must acquire health insurance that covers them for the full duration of their stay overseas at their own arrangement.
