Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) was established in 1986 as Korea’s first research-oriented university in science and technology. It is a private university, based in Pohang, South Korea.
POSTECH’s on-campus laboratories are recognised for retaining the best research facilities in Korea. The nation’s only Pohang Accelerator Laboratory, the POSTECH Biotech Center, National Center for Nanomaterials Technology and the Pohang Institute of Intelligent Robotics are just a few of the state of the art facilities at POSTECH.
The POSTECH Exchange Program is a great opportunity for students who seek a unique combination of traditional academic courses and firsthand research experiences.

Curriculum Structure |
|
There are three types of student exchange program:

- Coursework
- Research
- Combined Program (Course + Research) – Students are required to take minimum 3 units of courses
|
The research participation period is determined by the student and his/her advising professor at POSTECH. Maximum period of research is 12 months.
Exchange students are required to take 10 credits per semester and no more than 22 credits
|

Medium of Instruction for Classes |
|
Korean, however they offer a variety of courses in English.
Currently, 60% of their undergraduate courses are offered in English (100% for senior/junior major classes and 40% for sophomore/freshmen classes). All graduate courses are taught in English
POSTECH offers Korean Language Program for international students twice a week when students can learn about Korean language and Korean culture. This program is offered complimentary to exchange students.

Housing Options |
|
International exchange students will be housed at the Dormitory for International Cultural Exchange (DICE) on twin sharing basis. All rooms are equipped with free internet, LAN connections and lounges with cable TV are available on every floor. Admitted students are automatically arranged on-campus housing. The cost is around KRW 400,000 per semester.

Consular/Visa Regulations |
|
Exchange students must apply for a D2 student visa before arrival. After you received the Certificate of Admission (CoA) and offer letter from your host university, please proceed to the Korean Embassy to apply for the student visa.
|
|
Health/Medical Insurance |
|
All exchange students must acquire health insurance that covers them for the full duration of their stay overseas at their own arrangement. Proof of valid insurance has to be submitted to POSTECH.
