Founded in 1882, Waseda is one of Japan's top private, coeducational institutions of higher learning. It was first founded as a college with three departments under the old system of Japanese higher education, till now it has grown to become a comprehensive university with a land area of 518 acres with two senior high schools and an Art and Architecture School.

Housing Options |
|
On-campus accommodation:
There are 2 student dormitories for male students and 2 dormitories for female students.
Off-campus accommodation:
The rent is around 350,000 yen per semester for a one-room apartment.

Consular/Visa Regulations |
|
Applying for a college student visa requires a Certificate of Eligibility. This document is issued by the Japanese Ministry of Justice. The International Centre will apply for this Certificate on the student’s behalf, and send it to the student when it is issued. Apply at the Japanese Embassy with the Certificate and a valid passport.

Health/Medical Insurance |
|
All foreign nationals residing in Japan for more than one year must join a Japanese public medical insurance program. Students whose stay in Japan is less than one year, but have a “College Student” status of residence, may join the National Health Insurance program. Joining is not mandatory, but it is highly recommended for such students to join.
