Kyushu University abbreviated to is the largest public university on the island of Kyūshū. It is located in Fukuoka City, Fukuoka.
Kyushu University has almost a century of history. In the hilly district west of Fukuoka, the university is constructing the new campus, which should be able to start relocating in 2005. The University aims to create an environment where students can enjoy studying as well as living on campus. The new campus will not only be for students, but will also be open to the public. The courses are taught in the Japanese Language.

Curriculum Structure |
|
Although the basic structure of our educational and research courses consists of undergraduate schools and graduate schools, these schools are further divided into departments and courses in accordance with individual fields of specialization. Graduate schools are set up for students who wish to continue study and research after finishing undergraduate school. Kyushu University also provides services to students other than its normal undergraduate and graduate students, such as research students, special students, and auditors.

Housing Options |
|
The KUISH is a dormitory for the foreign students of the Kyushu University. The basic principle is that students are allowed to live in the KUISH for 6 months. During this time students are supposed to get used to life in Japan while searching for an apartment.

Consular/Visa Regulations |
|
Applying for a college student visa requires a Certificate of Eligibility. This document is issued by the Japanese Ministry of Justice. The International Centre will apply for this Certificate on the student’s behalf, and send it to the student when it is issued. Apply at the Japanese Embassy with the Certificate and a valid passport.

Health/Medical Insurance |
|
All foreign nationals residing in Japan for more than one year must join a Japanese public medical insurance program. Students whose stay in Japan is less than one year, but have a “College Student” status of residence, may join the National Health Insurance program. Joining is not mandatory, but it is highly recommended for such students to join.
