City University of Hong Kong (CityU) was established in 1984. It is strategically located at the heart of the city, with close proximity to the interchange station of the Mass Transit Railway (MTR) and the Kowloon-Canton Railway (KCR).

NUS students who study at its Faculty of Science and Engineering can apply for internship opportunities during their SEP stint.

Semester workload:

Exchange student must take 12-18 credits to enrol as a full-time student at CityU. (Normally 3 credits/module)

Medium of Instruction for Classes

English.

Students are expected to be fluent in both written and spoken Chinese should they choose to pursue certain programs such as the Chinese Language & Culture.

Registration for some courses is restricted to students holding the necessary prerequisites.

The University reserves the right to restrict registration in courses, or permit registration only on a priority basis.

Housing Options

On-campus:

On-campus accommodation is available at the Student Residence in Cornwall Street. Students have to submit their application form to the Student Residence Office (SRO) together with their SEP application.

Visa & Insurance
Consular/Visa Regulations

A student visa is required. CityU will assist in the visa application by acting as the local sponsor for exchange students. Completed application form and other necessary documents should be sent to the University at least 6 weeks before the semester begins.

Health/Medical Insurance

The University requires all exchange students to secure a medical insurance / travel insurance policy during their stay in Hong Kong. Please visit http://www.cityu.edu.hk/meao/ for details.

It is MANDATORY for non-local students (including exchange students) to have suitable and adequate insurance covering travel, personal accident, medical expenses (accident and non-accident), hospitalization and emergency evacuation/repatriation throughout the entire period of their study in Hong Kong. Students are required to either purchase the insurance on their own before they leave their home city or, if they are unable to do so or wish to have additional insurance coverage, enrol in the ‘Group Personal Accident Insurance & Medical Benefits Insurance Plan for Non-local Students’ contracted by the University.
