Institution Profile

The University of Mannheim is one of Europe's leading schools in Economics and Social Sciences. Its Business School was founded in 1907 by the city of Mannheim, but it only received its university status in 1967 when it was reopened after World War II. The University is the first German Business School to be accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), and this is an indication that Mannheim’s Business programs meet the highest international academic standards.

Despite the University's young age, it has a long tradition to look back on and be proud of. Today it is one of Germany's medium-large sized universities. Approximately 10% of its 12000 students are international students. The University is situated in the largest baroque castle in Europe which was built by Electoral Prince Karl Theodor in the town centre in the early 18th century. It is a very dignified and extraordinary working place and all classes are held there.
