The University of Freiburg was founded in 1457 and today is one of Germany's oldest and most prestigious academic institutions. Its student population of 21000 students is a very dynamic one, with an international student percentage of 16%. The university campus stretches over the whole town, with the Arts and Humanities Faculty right in the centre and the Science Faculties in the North of the town. Attracting a vast number of scholars from all over the world each year, the University of Freiburg is an internationally renowned research centre, which enjoys an outstanding reputation within and beyond the borders of Germany. |

Housing Options |

The University of Freiburg does not have its own Hall of Residence. However, the International Office of the University of Freiburg closely cooperates with the Studentenwerk (http://www.studenten-wg.de/) All exchange students may submit a housing application with their ‘normal’ application for exchange to IRO in order to secure a housing. (Students may also look for private housing options; types of accommodation available include individual rooms as well as 2-3 room apartments. Lease costs can range from €180 - €350 per month.) |

Consular/Visa Regulation |
