Founded in 1877, The Technical University of Darmstadt (TUD) has the reputation of being a working university, with a demanding curriculum and high expectations of students. Its continuous efforts to further its research and teaching standards have been both locally and internationally appreciated and confirmed in various rankings and recommendations.

Darmstadt has a considerably high international student percentage in comparison to the other German universities. The student population stands at 19000, 19% of which are international students. It has a very diverse student population and the university strives to serve every possible need of a developing young professional. Of the many studying options, Engineering Sciences is one of the most reputable and has had the largest intake over the past few decades.

NUS Application Deadline

Please check with your faculty for its internal application deadlines. After you have been selected by and accepted your faculty’s internal offer, your faculty would give you the application instructions of the partner university. An online application to the partner university is needed.

 
Accommodations
Housing Options

TUD has its own Halls of Residence; however places are limited and the office will try to reserve rooms for the exchange students. Students can also opt to rent accommodation off campus; types of accommodation available can range from an individual room to 2-3 room apartments.

 
Visa & Insurance
Consular/Visa Regulation

Exchange students have to obtain a long-term visa (residence permit). Applications for the permits must be submitted through the German Embassy in Singapore. For further information please refer to: www.singapur.diplo.de (Culture & Education > Studying in Germany > Visa information).

Health/Medical Insurance

Mandatory public health insurance: approx. 65 Euro per month
