The Paris-Sorbonne University is the largest institution in France focusing on the Humanities, and more particularly Classical Studies.
To a large extent, the Université de Paris-Sorbonne (Paris IV) was the inheritor of the former University of Paris’ Arts and Sciences Faculties. The initiatives have been aimed at promoting the cultural heritage of the Sorbonne, with a focus on disciplines in the literary and human science fields.

Restrictions for Exchange Students |
|
Every student must take a French language exam or get a certificate (acknowledged by Paris-Sorbonne University) to confirm s/he has passed a French test in order to apply to the University

Housing Options |
|
Housing at the CIUP for Master’s degree students only (number of rooms limited).
Should you need information on housing possibilities, you can consult the CROUS web-site (refer to other links) which offers rooms in university residence halls. To benefit from housing in a university residence hall, you must have completed two years of higher education and satisfy certain conditions.

Health/Medical Insurance |
|
Students can choose to purchase the French national insurance or to have an international health insurance.
You enroll in a national health insurance plan at the same time you register at the University. You also choose a center to which you will apply for reimbursement of your medical expenses.
The French Social Security is about 210 euros per academic year –even if students only stay for one semester.
