The higher education institutes, polytechnic schools and universities are mostly located in the major cities, such as Zagreb, Split, Rijeka, Osijek, Zadar, Dubrovnik and Pula. The first semester spans from mid-September to the end of January while the second semester spans from February to the end of June. Tertiary education in Croatia is characterised by teaching and supervision at a high academic level by staff actively involved in research, strong student involvement, strong emphasis on student-centred pedagogical development and an open and democratic atmosphere with an informal relationship between staff and students. |
