The Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) is a national key university directly under the administration of the Ministry of Education of P. R. China, and is among the first Universities joining the national “211 Project” and “985 Project”. It was founded on May 26, 2000 as a result of the merger of the former Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Tongji Medical University and Wuhan Urban Construction Institute.
At present, the University has eleven disciplines: engineering, medicine, management, science, philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history and agriculture, offering a variety of degree programs, including 86 undergraduate programs, 303 graduate programs, 237 PhD programs. There are 31 post-doctoral research centers, 7 national key disciplines, 15 national key sub-disciplines.

Housing Options |
|
On-campus accommodation:
On-campus accommodation is available at the Friendship Apartment Building. There are single, double rooms and two bedrooms with a common bathroom. Other public facilities include kitchen, laundry, gym, etc. Accommodation during the semester break is available to all exchange students.
Off-campus accommodation:
Students may apply to the Foreign Students Office to rent rooms at Chinese homes. For further information, please contact the International Exchange Centre.

Consular/Visa Regulations |
|
A student visa is required (F visa of 180 days for 1 semester exchange with no physical examination required and X visa for 1 year exchange)
Apply at the Visa Service Center (22 Malacca Street) with the admission notice and visa application form (JW202) issued by HUST.
|

Health/Medical Insurance |
|
Student should carry adequate accident and medical insurance coverage with provisions for emergency evacuation/rescuer’s expense and repatriation for both durations of studies in China and travels within/outside China.
Exchange students are required to purchase a compulsory medical insurance of RMB600 per year.
