Accommodation
Housing Options

On-campus housing is limited to approximately 5 percent of the student population and there is heavy competition for places. The University is therefore unable to guarantee on-campus housing. Housing assistance is provided however to guide students in their search for available and suitable housing off-campus. Please refer to the housing link provided below for more details.

On-Campus Accommodation:

Students can choose to apply for on-campus housing in one of the residential colleges. However, interested students will need to submit applications directly to their preferred residential college. The Residential colleges prefer applicants seeking one year placements from March to December. Most cannot admit students who start mid-year in July. The Sydney University Village (SUV) may be able to make exceptions.

Off-Campus Accommodation:

There are a variety of off-campus housing options. These include shared houses, full board or homestay, studio and private apartments. The Accommodation Service helps students at all campuses to find off-campus accommodation. The Service maintains an extensive database of housing options. The database can be easily accessed online.

Consular/Visa Regulations

Exchange students must enter Australia with a sub-class 575 non-award student visa and not a tourist visa. Before they can for a visa students will need a letter of offer from the University and a Certificate of Enrolment (CoE).

Health/Medical Insurance

All international students studying in Australia are required to purchase an approved Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) policy. OSHC is a condition of the Overseas Student Visa issued by the Australian Immigration authorities. The cost is approximately AUD$210 for 6 months and AUD$385 for 12 months. OSHC can be purchased through the university.
