Peer Advising Programme

Incoming Exchange Students

Welcome to NUS and Singapore!

We in the Peer Advising Family would like to extend a very warm welcome (start getting used to the warmth, it’s more than 30 degrees Celsius in Singapore everyday) to all of you!

We hope you’ll have an enjoyable stay in Singapore and a fruitful, fun-filled semester in NUS. The Peer Advising team will do our best to make sure of this. “How?” you ask....

  • We organize exciting events that allow you to get a unique slice of Singapore
  • We connect you to our enthusiastic Peer Advisors who are more than willing to help you out
  • We’ll be your friends

Peer Advising Events

Every semester we organize special events for our exchange student community. These events are designed to present Singapore to you in a unique and interesting way – unobtainable anywhere else!

Sports Event

In the beginning of each semester, the Peer Advisors will organize Row, Row, Row Your Dragon Boat – an exhilarating sports event to get your heart pumping and blood racing while enjoying our city skyline! You’ll never get to do this anywhere else!

Last semester, more than 100 exchange students split into six boats and paddled along the Kallang River. They learnt proper Dragon Boating techniques from NUS’ very own Dragon Boat team, bonded over team bandanas and even participated in a mini-race at the end of the day!

Travel Clinic

One of the best things about studying in Singapore is your newfound access to all of South East Asia. It’s a beautiful place and there are so many places to visit! The Peer Advisors want to make your travel planning a little easier, so every semester we organize a Travel Clinic right before Recess Week, just for you.

Some of your Peer Advisors, who are experts at travelling South East Asia, will do mini-presentations about the do’s and don’ts, must-sees and best places to stay in the country of their expertise. The countries commonly featured in our Travel Clinic are Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos. Our Peer Advisors will also be ready to answer your burning questions about travelling around the region.

Social Event

By the middle of semester you’ll all have become very well acquainted with one another and what better way to celebrate your new friendships (and the end of the mid-terms) than with a fun social outing. We typically organise a barbecue for the exchange students and Peer Advisors.
