THE UNIVERSITY OF LEEDS
United Kingdom
Institution Profile

One of the UK 's largest universities, the University of Leeds is acclaimed worldwide for the quality of its teaching and research. Its 35 departments attract around 31,000 students. Leeds is now amongst the top ten research universities and is internationally recognized as a centre of excellence.

The city of Leeds is situated in the north of England, and was recently voted one of UK 's top 3 places to shop by numerous local independent studies. Besides shopping, you can enjoy the nightlife, clubbing, restaurants, sport, cinema and theatre – all of which can be found in abundance.

Academics

Course information:

Academic calendar:

  • NUS semester one = Leeds Autumn Term (27th September to 10th December)
  • NUS semester two = Leeds Spring Term (10th January to 18th March)
Leeds Summer Term (18th April to 17th June)
  • Most courses have exams at the end of each semester. Exam schedules are made clear to students when lectures start.
  • While one-semester SEP may be possible, this is often difficult for FASS students, who would do better with a full-year SEP stint at Leeds. This is due to the 70-credit limit per semester at Leeds, and the fact that most FASS modules at Leeds carry 20 credits. When proposing their SEP study plan, all NUS students must ensure that they abide by this 70-credit limit while earning enough NUS MC-equivalents to fulfill their degree requirements.

Housing Options
Accommodation is guaranteed for all international students at the university provided that the application is received by the university's accommodation office before the given deadline. For more information please visit the university's web pagehttp://www.leeds.ac.uk/accommodation/prospective_students.htm

Additional Information
Students going to Leeds on SEP may apply for the DUO-Singapore Exchange Fellowship Award. Selected students will be awarded a maximum of 4,000 Euros for one semester, which should cover their airfare, accommodation and living expenses. Applications open around March each year and close in April/May for the following academic year's SEP.
