The Cracow University of Technology (CUT) was established in 1945, originating from the Academy of Mining and Metallurgy, to become an independent entity in1954.
It is a government institution directly responsible to the Ministry National Education and Sport (MENiS). The university is directed by the supreme authority which is the Academic Senate, headed by the Rector who administers all the school activities and is the legal representative of the university. The Rector is assisted by four Vice-rectors who are in charge of particular areas of the school operation (General Affairs, Development, Research and Science, and Instruction and Students' Affairs).
