Founded in 1919, AGH University of Science and Technology (Polish Akademia Górniczo - Hutnicza) is the second largest and one of the most prestigious technical universities in Poland. Located in Kraków, the university was formerly known as the University of Mining and Metallurgy. It is considered the best university in Poland when it comes to Technology and Science.
Currently the university has 18,600 students (attending full-time courses) and 10,900 extramural students. There are also 45 foreign students. The number of the University teachers amounts to 3,962, including 608 professors. In the academic year 2005/2006, AGH educates students at 15 Faculties and the Interfaculty School of Energy, at over 100 specializations and 20 fields of study, ranging from Engineering to Physics and Materials Science.
The University is also very active in international cooperation. It has signed 90 bilateral agreements with institutional partners all over the world, including Illinois Institute of Technology and Miami University (USA), Université Pierre et Marie Curie (France) and Shibaura Institute of Technology (Japan).
Cracow – City of culture, science and art
Cracow (Krakow) is one of the most beautiful and magical cities in Europe. Settled since the Stone Age, Cracow was established as a city in XIII century and is a wonderful example of medieval and renaissance architecture and art. There are thousands of historic buildings, monuments, churches, defensive fortifications, palaces and residences. Now the ex-capitol of Poland is a magical place for artists, poets, musicians as well as scientists and students.
Language of Instruction
Lessons are mostly taught in Polish language. Some courses are available in English language.
Polish language classes are available for students to opt for in the academic year.
