Founded in 1634, Utrecht University has developed into one of Europe 's largest and most prominent institutes of research and education. It offers the broadest spectrum of courses available in the Netherlands with its 47 Bachelor programs and 160 over Masters programs. Well known scientists and Nobel Prize winners like Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen have passed through the University of Utrecht . As well as conducting ground-breaking research and ensuring their students get the best education possible, they want to train a new generation of researchers; develop their academic skills and professional skills who can address social issues and work towards solving them.

Utrecht – Dom Tower City

Located in the centre of the Netherlands , Utrecht is a very attractive town to be in. With its vast possibilities in the town ranging from sports to visiting canals and historical buildings, one can always find entertainment. The town is home to close to 50,000 students so one can never feel alone. A 600 yr old Dom Tower is Utrecht 's city symbol and it stands at 112 meters. An attraction not to be missed, as from the top of the tower (465 steps) one can see the entire city. The view from the top is quite spectacular on a dark winter's night.

Language of Instruction

Lectures at the University of Utrecht are held in Dutch and English. The University offers intensive Dutch courses before and during term time. Masters courses are taught in English.

Some facts about accommodation costs:

  • Room with shared facilities (kitchen, bathroom) - €350 - €600 per month
  • Flat with priv. facilities + shared front door - €700 - €1000 per month
  • Independent Accommodation - €1000 – Є1250 per month

The cost of living is estimated to be around €9000 - €10500 per year (€750 - €870 per month). This figure includes Accommodation, Food, Utilities, Transport, Health Insurance, Books & Study Materials, Visas, and other miscellaneous items.

 
Housing Options

The University of Utrecht does not have its own Halls of Residence; however there are student residences available to students. Students can rent individual rooms or entire shared apartments. An unfurnished single room can cost from €350 - €600 per month. Normally utilities are included in this price. Estimated prices for a rented flat inclusive of utilities and phone bill are €3600 - €5000 per year .
