The University of Delft is an entrepreneurial university at the forefront of technology, advancing state of the technological ideas on behalf of society. Founded in 1842, it initially started out as an institution focusing mainly on Civil Engineering, only adding its later engineering programs throughout the years. It has since become the largest and most comprehensive university of engineering in Netherlands .

Delft is a state university and conducts cutting edge research and provides outstanding education. Its research is centered around specific scientific areas, some examples are Sustainable Industrial Processes, Water: Works, Management and Quality and Nanotechnology. All the University's research can be done on campus due to its wide range of facilities.

Delft

Delft is a city located in the south of Holland , between larger cities like The Hague and Rotterdam where the largest sea port in the world can be found. It is also known as the Princes' city as it was in Delft that the founding father of the Dutch Royal Family was holding court in the 16 th century. The inventor of the microscope, Anthonie van Leeuwenhoek lived in Delft during his time. Despite its historical atmosphere, Delft has become a very lively and modern city which has attracted students and technological businesses.

Language of Instruction

With the exception of all foreign language courses, lectures at the Delft Technical University are held in Dutch. The University offers intensive Dutch courses before and during term time. Masters courses are taught in English.

Cost of Living

The Cost of Living, including food, housing, transport, books and other necessary living expenses should amount to about €700 per month. Students also need to consider the initial setting up expenses which should amount to €1500.

 

 
Housing Options

The University of Delft has its own Halls of Residence which is made available to international students and exchange students. The rooms are fully furnished with internet connection. Monthly costs for accommodation would amount to €340. Students may also wish to make their own arrangements off-campus.
