Being one of the oldest universities in Germany and Europe, the University of Heidelberg has become a centre for international scientific excellence which has continuously attracted both students and staff from all over the world. The high levels of external non-government funding received by the University in the areas of Natural and Life Sciences should suffice to show the university's high success rates in its research. The university has received numerous scientific and academic awards and has produced 8 Nobel Prize winners.

This town has inspired many artists; painters, musicians etc. The city has the Renaissance feeling still inside it, with its castle's and ruins from that period still remaining. Easily reachable, the city is not far from the main airport Frankfurt, Heidelberg is in one of Germany 's beautiful regions of Baden-Württemberg where many other beautiful cities and other tourist attractions like the famous black forest can be found.

Language of Instruction

With the exception of all foreign language courses, lectures at the University of Heidelberg are held in German. The University offers intensive German courses before and during term time.
