The Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich (LMU) is the first University ever to be founded in Bavaria . Established in 1427, it grew to become the largest university in Germany , currently having close to 48000 registered students, 800 over professors, 3000 over researchers in about 19 faculties. The university is situated close the centre of the city Munich , which is situated in the south of Germany in the centre of Bavaria . Munich 's charm and agricultural variety has attracted many companies to move to Bavaria , which offers students vast opportunities for internships and permanent positions with well-known companies.

Munich – Not Just Football

Munich is a very historic city with its many monuments and restaurants. It is a particular hot spot in Germany due to its location close to the Alps , which is a popular skiing place. The city itself houses many libraries and museums, cinemas and theatre/opera houses. Not to mention its sporting record, being host to the Olympic games, Soccer World Cup and of course its very own soccer team FC Bayer-Munich.

Language of Instruction

With the exception of all foreign language courses, lectures at LMU are held in German. The University offers intensive German courses before and during term time.

Housing Options
LMU does not have its own Halls of Residence; however the LMU International Office will help students to get accommodation by aiding in the liaising between landlords and students. In order to secure a place, applications must be received before the deadline as specified by the University. Students can also opt to rent accommodation off campus; types of accommodation available can range from an individual room to 2-3 room apartments.
