Mines was founded in 1783 when mining was considered the major high tech industry. Responding to changes in the industry, the school has evolved to provide students with a full range of useful techniques for engineers, social sciences and economics. Located since 1816 in the heart of the Latin Quarter next to the Jardin de Luxembourg, the École des Mines de Paris expanded in 1967 with new campuses situated in Fountainebleau and at Corbeil-Evry, and in 1976 with another campus situated in Sophia Antipolis.
The training programs are designed around several basic principles: the close relationship between the school’s research centers, availability of dedicated professors, quality and motivation of students and the availability of internship opportunities in France and abroad.
Language of Instruction: French
With the exception of all foreign language courses, lectures at the institution are held in French. The university offers intensive French courses before and during term time.
(NUS Centre for Language Studies offers courses in French language to prepare students going to France on student exchange.)
