Founded in 1952 and currently located at Cergy-Pontoise, north-west of Paris, ENSEA is one of the top French schools in electrical engineering. Being a graduate school in computer science and telecommunications as well, ENSEA forms a system of 200 elite institutions, the "Grandes Ecoles", which constitute the apex of the graduate education system in France.

Emphasis is also placed on a solid education in general science and in all areas of electronics. The core of the curriculum is built around the idea of giving the students the tools to solve engineering problems through creativity and initiative, providing the platform for graduates to a successfull career in industry or research. The unique structure of the classes enables students to develop human qualities such as leadership and openness, features that would be pertinent in their future careers.

Language of Instruction: French/English

Courses are available in French and English. The university offers 2 hours of complimentary French lessons to exchange students each week.

(NUS Centre for Language Studies also offers courses in French language to prepare students going to France on student exchange.)

Academics

Courses Available:

The institution offers 3-year Diplôme d’Ingénieur of which 6-7 months would be spent in the form of internships.
For the 1st and 2nd year of their studies, students would be expected to fulfill compulsory core courses after which they would be channeled into their specializations in the 3rd year.
The 6 specializations in the 3rd year include:

  • Computer science and systems
  • Electronics, measurements and instrumentation (sensor and biomedical electronics)
  • Microwaves and optical communications
  • Networks and telecommunications
  • Power electronics and control of systems
  • Signal processing, real time, and communication

There are only 5 courses that are conducted in English, each worth 6 ECTS and lasting a total of 45 hours.

    1. Electronic Circuits
    2. Introduction to Microprocessors and Assembly Language Programming
    3. Signals and Systems
    4. Electromagnetism
    5. French Language and Culture

Cost of Living

Living expenses can be estimated at around €800- €1000 per month, depending on life style and accommodation.

 

 
Housing Options

ENSEA provides 17 student residences that are equipped with diversified facilities. The option of living in an apartment outside of the university is also available. Please consult the following website for more details.
