TECHNICAL UNIVERISTY OF DENMARK
Denmark
Institution Profile

The Technical University of Denmark (DTU) is located at Lyngby, close to the capital city Copenhagen. As the technical university in Denmark, DTU is especially good for Engineering and Science students.

DTU has a flexible module course structure and the university has a wide range of study options for exchange students. Exchange students can do courses or project work. All courses in the first two years such as the foundation or introductory courses are taught in Danish. Courses in English are available in higher years.

Academics

Eligible areas of study:

Faculty of Science (FOS) and Faculty of Engineering (FOE).

Courses in English:

  • Website for courses taught in English can be found at http://www.adm.dtu.dk/studier/ik/studin/cc-help.htm
  • Courses taught in English usually offered only at higher levels. If only 1 or 2 international students sign up for a course, the teacher can decide to change the language of instruction to Danish and then give the international students special lectures in English.
  • Students can take up to 30 ECTS each semester in DTU. On average, each student takes four courses. NUS students must ensure they can earn enough NUS MC-equivalents without exceeding the 30 credit limit at DTU.
  • Most courses have exams at the end of each semester. Exam schedules are made clear to students when lectures start.

Academic calendar:

  • NUS semester one = DTU autumn semester (September to January)
  • NUS semester two = DTU spring semester (February to June)

Housing Options
It is very difficult to find housing in the city but the International Office can apply on your behalf to the PF accommodation Office. To ensure that you have accommodation, make sure you return the Accommodation Form at least 6 weeks before your arrival - preferably earlier. More information can be found at http://www.adm.dtu.dk/studier/ik/studin/acco.htm

Additional Information
Students going to DTU for SEP may apply for the DUO-Denmark Fellowship Award. However, this is not open for academic year 2005/06.
