CARLETON COLLEGE
United States of America
Institution Profile

Founded in 1866, Carleton College is a small, private liberal arts college in the historic river town of Northfield, Minnesota. Best known for its academic excellence and warm welcoming campus community, Carleton offers 36 majors and 15 concentrations in the arts, humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences.

Classes are small, extremely demanding and highly participatory. The student to faculty ratio is 9:1 and Carleton professors expect students to go to class prepared and ready to make a meaningful contribution each time. Outside of class, NUS students are expected to participate actively in Carleton's vibrant campus community and their more than 100 student groups.

Northfield, Minnesota, is a quiet and pleasant suburb located 40 miles south of the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul. Winters are very cold and often dip well below freezing, so it is essential to bring warm clothing for your stay.

NOTE: This exchange program is open only to students from the University Scholars Program. USP students from all faculties will apply for exchange at Carleton through USP. Interviews will be conducted to select suitable students. Successful applicants will attend Carleton only in Term 1 (our Semester 1) or for the full year.
