On-campus Housing:
A limited number of residence spaces have been reserved for exchange students at Columbia Lake Village (http://www.housing.uwaterloo.ca/residences/CLVnorth/index.html). An application is required and spaces will be allotted on a first-come, first-served basis. In June, exchange students can also apply to any of the first-year residences that are not yet full. Information will be posted on the residence vacancies page (http://www.housing.uwaterloo.ca/).
Off-campus housing:
Most student accommodation in Waterloo is rented on a single-occupancy, shared-accommodation basis. This means that you’ll pay a per-room, per-month rate. Depending on your arrangements, utilities, parking, laundry facilities, etc. may be extra. Rental or lease periods, as well as the level of furnishing, will also vary.
Shared-accommodation is readily available and very accessible, with price ranging from CAD350 to CAD550 per month for a single room in a shared apartment or house. For details see http://www.findoutmore.uwaterloo.ca/housing/offcampus.php |

Health Insurance:
All students who attend Canadian universities on exchange are required to purchase the health insurance recommended by their host university as part of the registration process. In addition, they can also purchase additional optional insurance from a private insurer for their term of study overseas. These short term optional insurance plans cover events such as personal accident, accidental medical expenses, emergency medical evacuation etc. For more information, please refer to http://www.exchange.uwaterloo.ca/uhip.html.
