The National Taiwan University (NTU) was established in 1945 with five colleges, they are College of Liberal Arts and Law, College of Medicine, College of Science, College of Agriculture and College of Engineering.

Today, NTU is a comprehensive university with eleven colleges offering a wide range of up-to-date disciplines and numerous research centres. It is ranked 124th in the Times Higher Education Supplement, World University Ranking 2008.

Medium of instruction for classes
: Mandarin.

Restrictions for exchange students

The following types of courses are not available to exchange students:

  • Continuing Education Bachelor’s Degree Courses
  • Distance Learning Courses
  • Teacher Education Program Courses
  • Practical Training Courses

Housing Options

On-campus accommodation is available at the International Youth Centre (IYC) or Prince House-NTU Chang Hsing Dorms. Submit your application online with your SEP application.

Additional Information

Consular / Visa Regulations

Students have to apply for a Visitor Visa (for less than 6 months stay), Resident Visa (for more than 6 months) at the Taipei Representative Office in Singapore.

Resident visa holders must apply for Alien Residence Certificate (ARC) within 15 days following the date of entrance or the approval date of the resident visas at the National Immigration Agency. When applying for the ARC, one may simultaneously apply for a re-entry permit. The re-entry permit allows you to leave and return to Taiwan.

Health / Medical Insurance

Student should carry adequate accident and health insurance coverage with provisions for emergency evacuation/rescuer’s expense and repatriation for both durations of studies in Taiwan and travels within/outside Taiwan. A copy of a valid insurance plan must be provided upon registration.

International Students residing in Taiwan for more than 4 months are eligible to participate in the Taiwanese National Health Insurance (NHI) program; but the NHI reimbursement is very limited. Therefore, all exchange students are required to have their own medical and accident insurance to ensure sufficient coverage during their exchange period in Taiwan.
