Victoria College was founded through an Act of Parliament in 1897, the year of Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee celebrations, and named in her honour. When the University of New Zealand system was dissolved in 1962, the College became independent and was renamed Victoria University in 1962. There are 4 campuses, namely Kelburn Campus, Te Aro Campus, Pipitea Campus and Karori Campus. Victoria is one of New Zealand’s leading centers of scientific teaching and research.

Academic Calendar:
- First Trimester: Late February to Mid-June
- Second Trimester: Mid-July to Early November
- Third Trimester: Mid-November to Mid-February (summer trimester with limited courses)
University’s faculties/schools:
Architecture and Design, Commerce and Administration, Education, Humanities and Social Sciences, Law, and Science

There are 15 Halls of Residences available for international students at Victoria. Some provide meals while others are self-catered. Off-campus accommodation:
If you chose not to live in a Hall of Residence, the Accommodation Service can assist you to find somewhere to live in the private market.
