Established in 1873, the University of Canterbury is New Zealand's second oldest university. It is located in Christchurch, the largest city in New Zealand's South Island. On-campus accommodation:
UC has six Halls of Residence, five of which provide three meals per day and two that are self-catered. Fees range from NZD$990 to $1370 per month for a catered room and NZD$670 to $770 per month for a self-catered room.
Off-campus accommodation:
The Accommodation Office can provide information on private accommodation providers in Christchurch. Renting a room in a flat costs between NZD$320 to NZ$430 per month, including bills and food. Homestay accommodation has an average cost of living of NZD$900 per person per week, including meals.
