Founded in 1882, Waseda is one of Japan's top private, coeducational institutions of higher learning. It was first founded as a college with three departments under the old system of Japanese higher education, till now it has grown to become a comprehensive university with a land area of 518 acres with two senior high schools and an Art and Architecture School. The courses are taught in the Japanese Language.

On-campus accommodation: There are 2 student dormitories for male students and 2 dormitories for female students. The entrance fee is 43,000 yen and the rent is 61,000 a month

Other living expenses are around 900,000 yen per semester which include 700,000 yen for food, transportation, 50,000 yen for Health Insurance / Medical Fees and 150,000 yen for miscellaneous fees (e.g. books etc.)
Insurance:
International students are obliged to participate in the National Health Insurance Scheme. International students are required to register at the National Health Insurance Section of the municipal office with your Certificate of Alien Registration.
