Keio University traces its beginnings to the original Keio Gijuku, an institution of Western learning unlike any other in Japan in its time. Since its inception, the education at Keio University has always reflected the "spirit of jitsugaku", the notion that one should not just acquire information from book learning, but learn from real-life experiences in order to apply viable solutions to actual problems. Keio continues to foster forward-looking thinkers with excellent problem-solving capabilities, while designing and improving upon an educational system that lives up to this heritage. The courses are taught in the Japanese Language.
